The more well-known coffees from Indonesia are from the island of Sumatra, which are often processed Wet-Hulled and lends them their characteristic earthy, savory, almost meaty flavors. The island of Sulawesi, on the other hand, primarily produces Washed coffees for export, and PT Toarco, a Japanese-Indonesian joint mill and export venture, is expert at producing clean, sweet, fruity coffees we simply love. This particular lot is grown by an indigenous group from the central mountain region on the southern part of the Sulawesi island.
PT Toarco is focused on providing education and support to its producer partners, which ensures quality standards are met. They train farmers on cherry selection, planting, picking techniques, fermentation, and manage quality throughout storage, transportation, moisture levels. This has had a great positive impact on the economic development and social improvement for the community.
