This profile brings together several coffee growers from the rural areas of Villa Moreno in the municipality of Buesaco, Nariño, including Ximena Cifuentes, whose own separated lot is also served on our menu currently.

El Cortijo, located just 20 minutes from Buesaco, benefits from privileged climatic conditions: a humid environment, abundant water and organic matter from the Meneses stream, and a favorable microclimate for coffee cultivation.

The farms are small, family-owned plots, no larger than 1.5 hectares, situated between 2,100 and 2,400 meters above sea level—making this one of the highest coffee-growing zones in Buesaco. The main harvest occurs from June to August, with cherries ripening slowly due to the altitude. Frost caused by low nighttime temperatures is a major challenge. To mitigate this, producers use targeted fertilization and plant transitional shade crops to help reduce losses from heavy frosts.

This micro-regional blend is great both as an everyday filter but also as a trusty espresso and makes a deliciously sweet flavourful latte!
