Fazenda CETEC is the realization of a lifelong dream rooted in resilience and education. Brothers Márcio Custódio and Izonel Junior grew up in a humble family, working as coffee pickers on other farms before pursuing higher education. Their dedication led them to become university professors and, later, founders of CETEC, a technical school in Minas Gerais that has trained over 5,000 young people in need.

They purchased a small farm originally for cattle. After Izonel’s passing, Márcio considered selling it but instead chose to honor their shared dream of a coffee farm. With his nephew, Heitor Botelho, he transformed the land into Fazenda CETEC, carrying forward their legacy of knowledge and opportunity.

Committed to ethical labor, the farm ensures children are in school, not working. Sustainability is at its core, with reforestation efforts, water conservation, and eco-friendly farming practices like Brachiaria grass intercropping to enrich the soil naturally.

Blending tradition, innovation, and social impact, Fazenda CETEC produces exceptional specialty coffee while uplifting its community. Today, it stands as a symbol of perseverance, education, and a deep respect for both people and the land.

Takele cultivated this lot on his 8-hectare farm in Konga, a renowned district in the Gedeo Zone, where skilled farmers produce the celebrated Yirgacheffe coffee.

COFFEES OF THE MONTH - APR 2025

The Karimikui factory is located at a high altitude where tea is more commonly grown, but the nutrient-dense soil makes the surrounding Rungeto FCS known for producing some of the highest performing lots in Kenya. The smallholder farms deliver ripe cherries to this station every year, where the factory team manually sorts them before production. Selected cherries are depulped, graded, and undergo dry fermentation in tanks. Then they are washed in clean channels, with a period of soaking (second wash) for further flavour development, and placed on raised beds to dry.

We always love a cup of immaculately processed Kenyan coffee for its vibrant juiciness, yet balanced and justified by an intense sweetness. It is perfect to be enjoyed in all brewing methods.

This is the third season of Rungeto at Sought x Found, this year's harvest is expectedly deeply sweet, with the familiar tropical note of mango and purple fruit note of blackberry.
